KAHAN LAB

Anat Kahan
Principle investigator
I am an assistant professor at the Department of Animal Sciences, The Hebrew University. I aim to understand the neuronal control of the reproductive system to improve fertility. I developed a method to improve accessibility to deep targets in the brain. My research focuses on ovarian function in health and distress, and the neuronal control of it, starting with the circadian rhythm control, to the peripheral nervous system. Before, after and during, I am a wife to Ariel and a mother to Uriya, Netta, Itamar, Noam and Roy

I did my bachelor's degree in Biology at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. During my bachelor's degree, I took part in an outstanding track called "Ashelim". I also did a research project investigating a rare syndrome called "Pitt Hopkins" using iPS cells (Dr. Gad Vetin). At the moment, I'm a master's student at the Hebrew University , in the Biotechnology track. My research in Dr. Anat Kahan's laboratory is focused on developing a non-hormonal contraceptive. Genetics and fetal development are two areas in which I have a keen interest, and I look forward to taking on new challenges. In addition to my academic pursuits, I love traveling, sports, and spending time with my family and friends.

I completed my B.Sc. in Marine Biology at Ruppin (Michmoret), and I am currently an M.Sc. student in the Biotechnology track. My work centers on characterizing neuronal subpopulations involved in the circadian regulation of fertility. I bring a strong biochemistry background and practical laboratory experience from the pharmaceutical industry.
